We are a team of researchers at Indiana University interested in knowing more about your perceptions, preferences, and experiences with self-managed abortion in the United States, especially after the 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Supreme Court decision, which led to restrictions and bans of abortion across some US states.
To be eligible to participate in this study, you must meet the following requirements:
Be 18 years of age or older.
Have been born in a Latin American or Caribbean country and currently reside in the US.
Have terminated or considered terminating their pregnancy after June 2022.
Be willing to share your experience confidentially.

If you agree to be in the study, you will be interviewed online using a secure communication platform. The interview will be conducted in two parts:
First, a 10-minute questionnaire gathering demographic information (e.g., age, race, migration experience, number of children, partnership status).
Second, a one-hour in-depth interview focusing on your experience and perceptions of self-managed abortion.
After the interview, you will receive a $100 gift card from Walmart, Target, or Amazon after the interview to thank you for your participation and time.
Efforts will be made to keep your personal information confidential. The information discussed in the questionnaire and interview will be used for research purposes only. We will write academic and informative articles for publication and present the information at academic conferences, but your name and other identifying information will not be used. Any information that could identify you will be kept private on password-protected computers that only the research team has access to. All personal data will be will be eliminated after payment.
You will be interviewing online with one of the researchers on our team. All team members work at Indiana University.
Participation in this study is completely voluntary. You can stop participating at any time. If you choose to end the interview early, you will not be penalized.
To participate in this study, you need to be able to take the interview from a smartphone, tablet, or computer connected to the internet.
The meeting will be conducted remotely, which means that you and the interviewer will communicate via Wire. To install Wire on your phone please follow these three easy steps:

Create an account by entering an email address, name, surname, and password.
Create a username of your choice.
Lastly, we ask that, if possible, you are alone and in a quiet space to minimize distractions and disruptions during the interview.
